A month into the young season and teams are starting to establish themselves and form an identity. As projected, the Cavs have firmly placed themselves atop the East. Surprisingly, the Bulls have played above expectations and have shot better then most thought their front court could shoot. The Wizards and Miami sadly have played bad basketball this first click into the season. I want to say the Knicks are playing better then most hoped, but that is not the case. It would not surprise me if Milwaukee or Boston made some noise in their respectable divisions. Hopefully the East can start to get tighter and it will make for a good run come April.
In the West, to no one’s surprise, the Warriors and Spurs continue their dominance. The Warriors have lost two games but when clicking on all cylinders, its a tough task to defeat them. The Spurs are still the Spurs but they are playing much better on the road then at home which is truly uncanny! But alas, a third real contender has joined the top with the Clippers playing at a very high level early. Let’s hope they aren’t just peaking early and can make a run against the front runners of the West. Personally, I highly doubt they can keep their high level of play up. Memphis has looked well but losing Conley will hurt them tremendously. OKC has played above average because of the outstanding play of Russell Westbrook who currently is AVERAGING a triple-double! My free pick season win total of Houston Over is on a solid pace as D’Antoni has the team playing well especially with the numbers new starting point guard James Harden is putting up! It is still a 3 horse race in my opinion between SA, GS and Cleveland when all is said and done.
It has been a one man show for Rookie of the Year thus far. Joel Embiid is putting up ridiculous numbers so far this year and it should pay dividends for Philly in the long run!
We’re off to a solid start picking winners, a few games over .500 at 32-29-and-2. I plan on chipping away at this pace all season long, which would make for a very successful campaign. Looking forward to a solid December and continuing to pick winners Against The Number!
